The RNA@core website aimed to be special…

Artistic; portraits and drawings rather than
pictures.

With such a concept in mind, Javier Martinez contacted me. My name is Fabian Harika, I live in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and I am a visual artist.
For RNA@core I composed twelve portraits to illustrate the members of the consortium. I further created a group picture as a “home” for the website.

I would define my style as expressionist. I use ink and watercolors to create open forms that I then over-write with thin, black lines, to draw up faces and expressions.

For RNA@core, I brought my own style, but I enjoyed adjusting it to the needs of the webpage.

I therefore adopted a clean, white background, and two colors: orange and magenta. The starting point were photographs I was sent from Vienna. I studied them over and over trying to extract and reformulate their essence. Without any doubt, the biggest challenge was to paint
the group; I wanted motion and a message for the visitors, students and scientists.

In the attached pictures I am showing you the process, my process, step by step. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! And for sure, I would be ready to take on another, similar challenge, so do not hesitate to contact me for your project!

Yours truly,
Fabian
