Chloroplasts support life on our planet via photosynthesis, sequestering carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen while converting solar energy into chemical energy.

Our research focuses on core machinery and signaling pathways in chloroplast biogenesis and maintenance. We're currently characterizing the Plastid-Encoded RNA Polymerase, which transcribes genes encoding key components of the photosynthetic apparatus.
